LG Washer Error Codes

What does your LG washer error code mean?

Error codes are useful clues, but they do not always identify the failed component by themselves. Start with the code, the symptom and the exact washer model.

Before You Reset

Save the code and model number first.

Take a photo of the display and model label before clearing the error. That information can help with model-specific diagnosis.

Common Codes

Common LG washer error codes.

Code definitions and troubleshooting procedures can vary by model, so confirm the exact washer model before replacing parts.

IE

Water inlet problem

What it means

The washer is not receiving enough water or cannot complete the fill stage correctly.

Safe check

Make sure the water supply valves are fully open and the inlet hoses are not visibly kinked.

When to call

If water supply is available but the code returns, the inlet valves, filters, pressure sensing, wiring or controls may need diagnosis.

OE

Drain problem

What it means

The washer cannot drain water within the expected time.

Safe check

Check the drain hose for an obvious kink or restriction. If your model has an accessible pump filter, follow the manufacturer instructions before opening it.

When to call

A recurring OE code may involve the drain pump, blockage, pressure sensing, wiring or control system.

UE

Unbalanced load

What it means

The washer cannot balance the load well enough to complete the spin cycle.

Safe check

Pause the cycle, redistribute the laundry and avoid washing one heavy item by itself.

When to call

If UE appears repeatedly with normal loads, leveling, suspension, sensing or mechanical issues may require diagnosis.

dE / dE1 / dE2

Door or lock problem

What it means

The washer cannot confirm that the door is correctly closed or locked.

Safe check

Make sure nothing is trapped in the door seal and close the door firmly without forcing the latch.

When to call

If the door is physically closed but the code returns, the lock assembly, wiring or control circuit may require testing.

LE

Motor or drive issue

What it means

The washer detected a problem with motor operation, movement or drive feedback.

Safe check

If the washer is overloaded, remove some laundry and allow the machine to stop completely before trying a normal load.

When to call

A recurring LE code may require testing of the motor, hall sensor, rotor/stator system, wiring or control electronics.

PE

Water level sensor issue

What it means

The washer is detecting an abnormal water-level or pressure-sensor condition.

Safe check

Turn the washer off and avoid repeated cycles if filling or draining behaviour is abnormal.

When to call

This typically needs model-specific diagnosis of the pressure sensor, pressure hose, wiring or control system.

FE

Overfill condition

What it means

The washer is detecting too much water inside the tub.

Safe check

Stop the cycle and turn off the water supply if the washer continues filling unexpectedly.

When to call

Possible causes can include inlet valves, pressure sensing, wiring or control problems and should be diagnosed before continued use.

tE

Temperature sensor issue

What it means

The washer detected an abnormal temperature-sensor or related circuit condition.

Safe check

Avoid repeated resets if the code returns immediately.

When to call

The thermistor, wiring, heater circuit or control system may require model-specific electrical diagnosis.

Safe Troubleshooting

Know where basic troubleshooting should stop.

Safe to check

Water valves, visible hose kinks, load balance, an obstructed door and information shown on the display.

Stop and book service

Internal electrical testing, motor or control diagnosis, disassembly around live wiring or repeated faults after basic checks.

LG Washer FAQ

Error-code questions.

Can I reset an LG washer to clear an error code?+

A power reset may clear a temporary electronic fault, but it does not repair the underlying cause. If the same code returns, further diagnosis is recommended.

Are LG washer error codes the same on every model?+

No. Codes and diagnostic procedures can vary by model and generation, so the exact model number matters.

Where can I find the LG washer model number?+

The model and serial label is commonly found around the door opening or on the washer cabinet depending on the design. A clear photo of the label is usually easiest.

Should I keep using the washer if an error code returns?+

That depends on the fault. Repeated drain, fill, motor, overfill or sensor errors should be diagnosed rather than repeatedly cleared.
